Beginning with the prologue through the streets of downtown San Francisco and traveling 650 miles over the next week, more than 150 of the world's best professional cyclists will race in the second Amgen Tour of California, traveling through host cities Sausalito, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Stockton, San Jose, Seaside, San Luis Obispo, Solvang, Santa Barbara, and Santa Clarita, concluding in Long Beach.
Thirteen leaders, trailblazers, and legends have become the first inductees to the new California Hall of Fame, a new institution celebrating extraordinary Californians and their lasting contributions to the state, nation, and world. On December 6, Cesar Chavez, Walt Disney, Amelia Earhart, Clint Eastwood, Frank Gehry, David Ho, Billie Jean King, John Muir, Ronald Reagan, Sally Ride, Alice Walker, and the Hearst and Packard families became the inaugural inductees through a formal state ceremony at The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts in Sacramento, the home of the new California Hall of Fame.
Thanks to all of you who responded to our call last October to vote for the Pigeon Point Lighthouse to receive an American Express Partners in Preservation grant. During a six-week public voting period, 25 historic sites in the San Francisco Bay Area competed for a total of $1 million in preservation funding from American Express.
