Overview
Thank you for visiting the Sites and reviewing our Privacy Policy (the "Policy"). Your privacy is important to us, and the Policy is simple: We will collect no personally identifiable information about you when you visit the Sites unless you choose to provide that information. The Policy does not describe information collection practices on other websites, including those linked to the Sites or those the Sites link to as a resource.

Information we collect
The servers on which the Sites are located collect and save only the default information customarily logged by web server software: date and time of visit, originating IP address, and pages and images requested.

You will be contacted via email regarding your reservation. You may also receive a monthly e-newsletter and periodic special offers. All such communications will provide you with the option to opt-out of all future email communications.

We may collect additional information if you choose to use or participate in one of our various services, programs, or surveys. For example, if you sign up for our e-newsletter service, you may elect to provide demographic data to the Sites because you prefer tailored communication based on your preferences.

Online reservations
The ASSD online reservations service (the "Service") requires the User to be a cardholder of a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or JCB credit card. The Service requires the User to share the credit card number in order to hold the reservation. The card will not be charged at the time the reservation is made and Users will have the option to choose an alternate payment method at check-in.

Each reservation made online is guaranteed. The confirmation number that appears immediately after billing information is sent to the Service will guarantee your bed at the hostel.

Reservations made using the Service can be modified or cancelled according to the following deadlines: until 48 hours prior to check-in for HI-Marin Headlands, HI-Pigeon Point Lighthouse, HI-Point Montara Lighthouse, and HI-Point Reyes; 24 hours prior to check-in for HI-Sacramento; and until 12 midnight (U.S. Pacific time) the day prior to check-in for HI-San Francisco City Center, HI-San Francisco Downtown, and HI-San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf. To modify or cancel using the Service the User is required to have the confirmation number and reference number provided at the time of booking. The User may also modify or cancel by calling the reservations desk at the location the reservation was made.

Users who fail to cancel a reservation according to the Terms or fail to show for a reservation, will be billed one night's accommodation per person on the credit card provided to the Service during the reservation process.

Force Majeure
The Council cannot accept any liability where the reservation could not be fulfilled due to circumstances which we could not, even with due care, have foreseen or avoided. Such events may include, but are not limited to, war, threat of war, civil commotion or strife, hostilities, strikes or other industrial dispute, natural disaster, fire, act of God, terrorist activities, technical problems with transportation, closures of airports, ports and/or ferries, quarantine, epidemics, weather conditions, government action, or other events outside our control.
