Application Deadline: March 1, 2012
The Golden Gate Council of Hostelling International USA is looking for experienced storytellers to perform a five- to ten-minute piece about the act of travel for this year's World Storytelling Day.
World Storytelling Day is an annual, worldwide celebration of the tradition of oral storytelling that's being celebrated this year on Tuesday, March 20. We'll be hosting an event at Public Works in San Francisco on the evening of the 20th, and we're looking for a diverse and dynamic group of storytellers to share their travel tales. Stories of all styles and genres are welcome, as long as they are related to traveling.
How to Submit
Interested performers should email a performance resume and a transcript of the piece they would like to perform to Stuart Bousel by Thursday, March 1. Please put "World Storytelling Day" in the subject line of the e-mail. Performers with video footage of their work are strongly encouraged to submit that as well, but it is not required.
Please note that because this is a storytelling event, performers will be expected to perform their piece (off-book), not simply read it. More than one piece can be submitted, but please no more than three, and pieces should fall into the five- to ten-minute range.
Selected performers will receive a small stipend the night of the event.
