Cinematic San Francisco presents "Time After Time"

The library's Cinematic San Francisco series, presenting films set in San Francisco, this week features "Time After Time" (1979), starring Malcolm McDowell. H.G. Wells pursues Jack the Ripper to the 20th century when the serial murderer uses the future writer's time machine to escape his time period.

San Francisco Oyster and Beer Festival

The largest Celtic festival on the West Coast, the San Francisco Oyster and Beer Festival drew over 15,000 people to Great Meadows at Fort Mason iin 2005. The event centers around the unique combination of oysters and stout, and is supported by a cast of traditional and contemporary live Irish musicians.
A wide variety of other beverages are also available, ranging from beers and wines to Irish coffees. And although oysters are the main theme of the festival, some booths offer alternative choices of cuisine.
This year's musical performers include Hy Brassl, MRNORTH, and Eoin Harrington, as well as The Whelan Academy of Irish Dance, while sideshows include the suck and shuck competition, stilters, and cooking demonstrations.
