One of the thrills of travel is that excited flutter you get when your plane is about to land, or when you round a corner and are met with the delight of seeing something wonderful and new. It’s the thing that makes travelling so addictive, and it’s one reason why hostel: there are more chances to experience something new when you’re staying at the kinds of unique lodgings HI USA offers across the country.
There’s a lot to love about California’s capital city. Especially if you ask Marc Edwards, general manager at HI Sacramento hostel, who’s lived in four major cities including San Francisco and Washington D.C. Apart from being rich in history as a state capital and Gold Rush town, Sacramento is one of the most bike-friendly cities in California and also happens to be America’s farm-to-fork capital, making it a great destination for all kinds of travelers. “I personally love Sac because the people are friendly,” says Marc.
There’s something about the humble picnic – the simple pleasure of sharing a meal outside with great company while the sun shines happily from above – that makes it feel good to be alive. Now that we can gearing up to celebrate the beginning of summer and all the good things that come with it, we can also start getting excited about all the picnics to be had in spectacular places. HI Marin Headlands hostel, which is lucky to call one of Northern California’s national parks home, is a paradise for spending time outdoors, especially if you’re up for a bit of al fresco dining.
Whether you’re used to warmer climates or quite content in the cold, there’s no denying that spring is a pretty wonderful time of the year. All the life that seems to have been hiding within the earth emerges, and the world seems to become a more colorful, brighter, livelier place. If you happen to be in Northern California during the spring and summer months, you’ll find that HI USA has some pretty sweet spots to do some Julie Andrews “Hills Are Alive” spinning around amongst beautiful blooms (or just regular viewing and photo snapping if you’re not the spinning type).
Oh, food! Sure, the main reason we eat is for fuel for our bodies, but the reason we enjoy eating is because, well, good food tastes so good! One of the many delights of travel is that you get to indulge in the new scents and flavors of different cities and discover a new favorite thing to stuff your face with.
