One of the perks of staying at hostels is the fact that you have access to a kitchen where you can make your own meals – you get to save money and you’re more than likely to make a new friend or two while you cook. We also know though, that travelling is about the delicious experience of trying local foods and visiting quirky off-the-beaten-path spots, and we always like to share our favorites with the hungry and adventurous.
With its near-perfect weather and big-but-small city vibes, Sacramento offers an excellent little slice of Northern California culture when you want to experience a bit of natural beauty, history, and great food all in one trip. Known as the City of Trees, California’s capital has many great spots where you can unwind amongst beautiful scenery, whether it’s in a city park or out along a never ending stretch of highway.
When you stay at the lovely HI Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel on the California coast, you have access to some awesome attractions practically at your doorstep: there’s the ocean with tide pools and abundance of wildlife, a variety of hiking trails, the charming town of Pescadero, and the nearby farms with delicious eats (artichokes anyone?).
