7 Ways to Do Good While Visiting San Francisco This Winter

Group meal HI SF Fisherman's Wharf

If you’re lucky enough to be visiting San Francisco during the most wonderful time of the year, you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice when it comes to fun festivities to get into. Along with hosting holiday outings and lively group dinners, one of our favorite ways to get festive during the holidays is to volunteer in the communities around our hostels in San Francisco. It’s a nice reminder to keep a little perspective and to show our appreciation for the people and places that make the City by the Bay so great.

6 of Our Favorite Sacramento Holiday Events and Traditions

We might be a little biased here, but we can’t think of a better place to spend cozy Christmas holidays than at HI Sacramento hostel. The beautiful old Victorian house looks like a dream when it’s decorated with tinsel and lights, the hostel has activities and treats to make it homey, and the city of Sacramento becomes a wonderland full of fun seasonal activities.

Spend the Holidays with HI USA

Tis the season for much merrymaking and festivity and we think that there’s no better place to be than at one of our hostels. While being away from home at this time of the year can get a little lonely, it can also be extra special when you come together with fellow travelers and form a temporary family to celebrate with. Whether it’s in the heart of a major city, or far out in the country with only the stars for Christmas lights, you’ll be able to get into the spirit of things at some great events both big and small hosted at our hostels.

Celebrate the 4th of July With Friends You've Never Met

By Marguerite Richards

We gather together, sometimes rushing to make it in time for sunset. In that moment we’re united, regardless of ethic make up, financial or social standing, under a spectacular light show in the sky. Don’t worry: I’m not going to start singing the National Athem on you. But it’s true that, despite our shortcomings, I’m always proud on the 4th of July. There is reason to celebrate.
