Autumn is upon us and with it comes the return of all things pumpkin, the Bay Area's warmest months (really), and the spooktacular fun of the 11th annual Haunted Hostel Halloween (HHHXI)! Held at the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel each October, the Haunted Hostel Halloween is a family friendly event featuring an elaborately imagined world of mythical creatures who, for over a decade, have delighted children and parents alike.
This HHHXI, explore the "Enchanted Bosk," home to the devious Dragon and the slithering Sea Serpent…and many more of their mysterious brethren. Those brave enough to enter the Bosk will wind through an 80 foot spiral maze, "The Gyre" (aka the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch), make a perilous bridge crossing over "Tasman's Grotto" -- we dare you to stay dry! -- and discover the magic of an enchanted forest where mythical creatures roam freely!
Close to 300 people now attend the annual festival, and it's become a beloved tradition for both Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel staff and volunteers, and the local community. The massive Dragon and Sea Serpent puppet creatures were handcrafted by hostel manager -- and talented artist -- Christopher S. Bauman, who creates the keepsake HHH posters, as well. You’re invited to join in the fun! Costumes are strongly encouraged, so come dressed in your Halloween best. Open Saturday, October 26, from 2 - 5 p.m., HHHXI provides safe and scary thrills for the whole family. Kids of all ages can partake in Halloween-themed games and crafts, and everyone will enjoy the music, tricks and treats that await at this spirited monster mash!
