50th Anniversary Celebration: Staff Art Exhibit at the Sacramento Art Walk

Sacramento’s monthly Second Saturday Art Walk is the largest art event in the Central Valley, where galleries, art studios, and other city businesses keep their doors open late into the evening. Hundreds of Sacramento art lovers come out to wander from venue to venue, discover new art, and meet local artists in a festive, community atmosphere.
In November, the historic Sacramento Hostel is joining in the party with an exhibition featuring artwork by staff members of the Golden Gate Council of Hostelling International USA, in honor of the Council’s 50th anniversary.
Come see paintings, pottery, photography, and more by 11 talented artists, displayed in the hostel’s elegant Victorian parlors:

Enjoy light refreshments and live music while chatting with the creators about their work, and explore the first floor of the Gold Rush-era mansion, with its hand-painted ceilings, carved wooden banisters, chandeliers, stained glass skylights, outdoor patios, and fireplaces with original painted tiles.
Afterward, head out to the Art Walk, which spreads across five Sacramento neighborhoods. Each district has its own offerings, from the large, high-end galleries of Downtown to the more experimental offerings of Southside. The heart of it all is Midtown, where the blocks around the intersection of J and 20th streets are closed to vehicle traffic, allowing visitors to move freely from space to space. You’ll definitely want to start your stroll early to take in all the Art Walk has to offer!
