Call for entries: International Young Eco-Hero Awards

Application deadline: February 28, 2006

The International Young Eco-Hero Awards honor the creative environmental projects of young people between the ages of eight and 16 who have been working to preserve the world around them, teaching others how to protect the environment, or conducting an environmental research project.

Winners receive a cash prize and a special certificate, as well as public recognition. Just as importantly, winners serve as role models for other young people by demonstrating that each individual can make a difference.

The awards are presented by Action For Nature (AFN), a nonprofit organization that encourages young people around the world to carry out individual environmental action projects. AFN believes that young people can have a positive impact on the environment, and that they are vital to changing the way we live on our planet. Their mission is to "encourage young people to take personal action to nurture and protect a healthy environment on which all life depends."
