Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals
Despite the crazy amount of hills, San Francisco is a city totally worth exploring by bike, and a good way to find your cycling feet is to join the hostel’s Bike the Bay tour on Tuesdays. If you miss the trip or feel emboldened to keep going on your own, you can rent a bike from Blazing Saddles for the day and peddle your way around the city filled with parks and interesting sights. You definitely get bonus points if you tackle the steep inclines, but you’ll be forgiven for taking the long way ‘round just to find the path of least resistance.
Discount: Blazing Saddles offers a discounted daily rental fee of $18 -$22 per day (depending on the bike) for guests. The price includes helmet, lock, rear rack, camera bag, bungie cord and a map. Bring a flyer from the hostel front desk to qualify for the discount.
American Conservatory Theatre
Whether or not you’re a big fan of theatre, it’s hard not to appreciate the magic of watching a show in a century-old beautiful building, and the American Conservatory Theatre’s Geary Theatre is a space that will make you feel in touch with San Francisco’s rich cultural history. The non-profit company hosts productions big and small, some featuring local up-and-comers and others with seasoned veterans. If you’re looking for a low-key but quintessential San Francisco night out, you definitely can’t go wrong at this accessible and inclusive theatre.
Discount: Arrive at theatre at least 2 hours before show time with your hostel receipt and you can get a “discounted rush ticket” with the price depending on the time and the show. Tickets are subject to availability.
