Our reception/reservations office is open from 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Check-in is available from 3:30 - 10:30 p.m. If you're delayed or can't arrive during check-in hours, please call before 10:00 p.m. Note: Adults must provide a valid government-issued picture identification card (passport, driver's license, or state or military ID card) at check-in.
Check-out is from 7:30 - 11 a.m. If you need to check out early (5:30 - 7:30 a.m.), please let us know upon check-in.
Please be aware that the gate to our property closes at 11PM and opens at 7:30AM. Notify the staff if you need off-property access during these hours (there's an additional day-use fee for groups.) We're located on U.S. Coastguard land; day visitors are welcome to explore the grounds from 9:30 a.m. to sunset, but please stop by the hostel reception desk first. Please note: On rare occasions, daytime access to the hostel and grounds may be restricted due to group rentals or special events.
The hostel is open daily year-round.
We accept cash, traveler's checks, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB. A credit card is required for reservations (see cancellation policy below), but at check-in you can choose to pay with cash or travelers checks instead.
If you need to cancel or change your reservation, at least 48 hours advance notice is required. If a cancellation is made without 48 hours notice, or if you do not arrive on the reserved date, your credit card will be charged for one night’s accommodation per person, and any additional nights reserved will be cancelled. (For groups, a different cancellation policy applies.)
Maximum stay policy
To better meet our mission as a nonprofit organization that supports travel and cultural exchange, the Golden Gate Council of Hostelling International USA has established the following maximum stay policy: No guest may stay at one hostel location for more than 14 nights in a calendar year. Once a guest reaches their 14th night, s/he is not eligible to stay until January 1 of the following year. Additionally, no guest may stay more than 14 nights in any two-month period.
