The Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel is perched on the California coast, 25 miles south of San Francisco and 7 miles north of Half Moon Bay. The hostel is on coastal Highway 1 (also known as Cabrillo Highway) near 16th Street, between the towns of Montara and Moss Beach.

By Car

If traveling by car, please be cautious as the hostel driveway is hidden on a curve on Highway 1. If you are driving northbound on Highway 1, you are advised to continue past the hostel (on your left), drive on to the town of Montara, then turn around so you can enter the hostel driveway with a southbound right turn at the end of the guardrail.

By Public Transportation

The hostel can be reached by public transportation using BART and SamTrans.

Southbound from San Francisco
Take a BART train to the Daly City station. From the BART station, take SamTrans bus 110 to the Linda Mar Park and Ride in Pacifica.

On weekdays, take SamTrans bus 294 from Pacifica to Highway 1 and 16th Street. Tell the driver where you are going, as 16th Street is not an automatic stop. Walk north 1/2 block on Highway 1; the hostel is on your left.

On weekends, take SamTrans bus 17 from Pacifica to Main and 7th Streets. Walk south on Main (which becomes a pedestrian path) to 16th Street and carefully cross the highway onto the hostel driveway

Northbound from Half Moon Bay
On weekdays, take SamTrans bus 294 to Highway 1 and 14th Street. Tell the driver where you are going, as it is not an automatic stop. Walk south on the path along the highway to 16th Street and carefully cross onto the hostel driveway.

On weekends, take SamTrans bus 17 to Main and 7th Streets. Walk south on Main (which becomes a pedestrian path) to 16th Street and carefully cross the highway onto the hostel driveway.
