Ride Easy: Muir Woods shuttle runs May - September

Muir Woods

This summer, getting to Muir Woods on weekends and holidays is easy — just hop on the Route 66 Muir Woods Express.

The shuttle picks travelers up at the Sausalito Ferry Terminal from Memorial Day (May 29) through Labor Day (September 6). Round-trip fare is $3.

On weekends May 1-16 and September 11-25, it’s a short walk from the ferry terminal to Golden Gate Transit buses 10 or 22, which take riders to the shuttle departing from Marin City for no additional fare.

To take the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito, board at the San Francisco Ferry Building on the Embarcadero at the foot of Market Street. One-way fare is $7.85 (kids ages 6-18 cost $3.90), and the ride takes about 30 minutes.

Muir Woods National Monument — part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area — is known for its stand of old growth coastal redwood trees, the tallest living things in the world.

The park has six miles of hiking trails, as well as longer trails that extend into neighboring parks. Pets, bikes, horses, picnics, and smoking are not allowed in the park.
