The Marin Headlands Hostel is set in a U.S. National Park less than 5 miles north of San Francisco, just across the Golden Gate Bridge. Housed in the historic homes of former Fort Barry officers, the hostel provides immediate access to a wealth of outdoor activities, including miles of hiking and biking trails, beaches, and dense forest.

Accommodations are in shared, gender-specific or co-ed dorm rooms, or in private rooms. Bathrooms are shared.

Guests may choose to stay in:

  • Shared dorm rooms (average 4 to 9 beds per room)
  • Private single/double room
  • Private family room (up to 2 adults and 2 children)

The hostel offers several areas for guests to relax and enjoy, including:

  • Cozy lounge with woodstove, piano, and library
  • Antique parlor with decorative fireplace
  • Recreation room with pool, ping pong, and foosball tables, games, library, and television (video/DVD rental available)
  • Shaded picnic area with tables and barbecue
  • Basketball court
  • A National Park outside the front door!

The hostel has two self-service kitchens where guests can prepare their own meals. Both kitchens are fully equipped with stove, oven, microwave, coffeemaker, and ample refrigerator/freezer space. Pots and pans, dishes, and utensils are also provided.

Guests also have access to two indoor dining rooms and a shaded picnic area with tables and barbecue.
