Registration now open for HI-San Diego's 56th annual Christmas Bike Trip!

A white Christmas is certainly nice, but how about a winter holiday that includes the mountains, deserts, and shores of sunny San Diego? For 56 years, Hostelling International's Christmas Bike Trip has attracted bike riders young and old, novice and veteran, for a six-day, 400-mile trek through southern California.

Point Reyes National Seashore turns 50

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed legislation that created the Point Reyes National Seashore. Fifty years later, Point Reyes is a beloved National Park that is visited by millions of people from all over the world. On Saturday, September 8, the park celebrates its 50th anniversary with a reception and oak-planting ceremony at the Bear Valley Visitor Center.

"Aerial dancers" perform in SF -- on the side of a building! (Sept. 26-29)

Free public art abounds in San Francisco, but one new piece that's a cut above the rest is an aerial dance and multimedia production entitled Niagara Falling. From September 26-29, aerial dancers will be suspended from the side of a historic downtown building, performing amidst images of San Francisco and Niagara Falls.
