HI opens new, eco-friendly hostel in Boston's Theater District

Last month marked the opening of Hostelling International USA's newest facility, a 480-bed hostel in the heart of downtown Boston. HI-Boston's spacious new building offers modern, stylish, and friendly accommodations for travelers looking for an affordable place to stay in the vibrant capital city of Massachusetts.

The new facility will be the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified hostel in the United States. Energy-efficient appliances were installed, construction materials were recycled or repurposed, and even the elevators recapture energy as they make their way down. Because of the hostel's downtown location, guests can also lessen their travel footprint by walking to popular Boston attractions or accessing nearby public transit.

Staying true to the social nature of hostelling, the new HI-Boston features several community spaces where guests can interact with both travelers and locals. The hostel lobby and the adjacent cafe are open to guests as well as the public. On the second floor, there's a TV lounge, pool table, computer room, and dining room where guests can share meals and connect with fellow travelers.

HI-Boston has wide range of room options for various types of hostellers. There are small and large dorms, single-gender and mixed-gender dorms, and private rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Breakfast and WiFi are complimentary, and the hostel also offers free walking tours, museum nights, and more.

Located in the theater district, the HI-Boston is near an abundance of entertainment and some of the city's famous historical and cultural destinations. A short walk from the hostel is Boston's Chinatown, the only historically Chinese area in all of New England. Just a few blocks away, you'll find Boston Common, the city's scenic central park. The historic Freedom Trail and the bustling Quincy Market are also within walking distance.

In a city that's been known for a lack of affordable lodgings, the new HI-Boston is a welcome addition. The hostel provides a little something for everyone --- traditional dorms and hotel-like accommodations, cultural exploration, opportunities for friendly community interaction, and convenient access to a range of Boston activities --- all in an affordable and eco-friendly setting.
