HI USA’s long-running Outdoor Hostel Adventure (OHA) programs are all about giving Bay Area residents a chance to explore, appreciate, and learn about the wonders of the environment and our relationship with it through hands-on experience. Whether it’s a day of guided tide-pooling for a group of school children or an educational night hike for adults, OHA offers endless opportunities for travelers of all ages to get in touch with nature.

Marin County Fair

Celebrating its 72nd year, the Marin County Fair is one of the biggest community events of the summer. This year's theme is "Schools Rule" and is in celebration of Marin’s local educational community. Exhibits will showcase possibilities for the future of education including interactive learning pods, a robot-creation booth, solar race car building, and a booth for computer design.

The fair will also have a Chinese circus, over 12,000 exhibits, a petting zoo, an international film festival, dance competitions, and all-you-can-stomach carnival rides. A $16 ticket gets you access to all this as well as performances by The Kingston Trio, "Weird Al" Yankovic, The Wailers, and Zendaya. Both Bay Area artists and popular retro bands perform throughout the event. See the fair website for details on these performances.

If you still haven't had enough after a full day of music, rides, and exhibits, stay for the fireworks, launching nightly at 9:30 p.m. Watch the sky above the fair illuminate with Roman candles, comets, meteoric showers, and bursting cascades of twinkling color.
